Compostable Disposable Paper Plates Review 2023 | Eco-friendly, PFAS-free, biodegradable

We tried Stack Man’s compostable bagasse plates, and here’s what we thought…

The Top Line: It’s an OK BUY. We purchased Stack Man’s 100% Compostable 7 inch Bagasse Plate for everyday grilling and entertaining, and it’s the perfect size for appetizers, tapas style meals or dessert! We love that the plates are made of bagasse (by product of sugar cane production) and bamboo, and appreciate that they are very sturdy and thick plates. However, when we compared against other options, including other compostable bagasse options, it was one of the most expensive — and we’re not seeing anything particularly special here to warrant the higher price. We will try other brands and report back!

The Breakdown:

  • Cost & Products: $15.99 for 125-pack of 7inch plates

  • How ‘Clean’ Is This? Made of 100% non-toxic sustainable plant byproduct material left from production of sugar from sugarcane and bamboo. No wax, bleach or dyes.

  • Packaging: Came with thin plastic packaging unfortunately.

  • Purchasing & Shipping: Quick checkout and shipping on Amazon

  • Good to know: These plates are microwaveable!

The Experience

We were looking for a heavy duty compostable appetizer and dessert plates for outdoor grilling and entertaining.

  • Very sturdy, would hold up well against sauces

  • Thick and high quality feel, significantly better than a normal paper plate

  • No dyes, bleaching or waxes

  • Unfortunately it did come in thin plastic packaging

Overall, very happy with the purchase and will be buying more!

The Cost

We compared Stack Man’s 100% Compostable 7 inch Bagasse Plate with other options, ranging from:

  • Basic paper plate options from brands like Dixie and FocusLine Paper Plates

  • Heavy duty options like Glad Heavy Duty Paper Plates

  • Other compostable options like Vplus and Comfy Package

Stack Man’s 100% Compostable 7 inch Bagasse Plate was pricy compared to most other options, except for Glad Soak Proof Heavy Duty plates. There were other compostable options (also made of Bagasse) that are lower priced that we will try next.

The Good:

Thick and high quality feel, significantly sturdier than a normal paper plate

Microwaveable!

No artificial coating, petroleum, wax, chlorine or bleach

The Bad:

None here
