Bathing Culture Mind & Body Soap 2021 Review | Zero Waste, Palm Oil Free, Biodegradable Soap

Bathing Culture Mind & Body Soap 2021 Review | Zero Waste, Palm Oil Free, Biodegradable Soap

The Top Line: ITS A BUY! If you are in the market for an eco-friendly liquid body soap that smells AMAZING and reasonably priced, Bathing Culture’s Mind & Body Wash checks all the boxes! While still more expensive than most bar soap options (and heavier to ship), we appreciate that it is a concentrated formula that comes in a refillable, 100% recycled plastic bottle (no new plastic is used). We also love that Bathing Culture is a carbon neutral brand!

The Breakdown:

The Experience

Context: We have been trying various bar soaps but was intrigued by Bathing Culture’s refillable biodegradable body wash. We know that Palm Oil is terrible for the planet — a leading cause of deforestation — and a problem even when it is labeled as “sustainable palm oil”! While we are wary of how much heavier liquid soap is to ship, we are impressed that they are carbon neutral and use no new plastic in their packaging (all blue-bin recycled plastic!)

  • We LOVE the Cathedral Grove scent - it smells like fresh forest trees. A very sexy, unisex scent.

  • Clean, hydrating and doesn’t feel like it strips our skin at all.

  • A little bit goes a long way!

The Cost

We compared Bathing Culture’s Mind & Body Wash with other liquid and bar options. While it is very reasonable for a liquid soap (especially if you opt for the subscription), it is still more expensive than most bar soap options.

The Good:

Simple ingredients: Organic coconut oil, Organic olive oil, Organic sunflower oil, Natural plant glycerin (soy bean), Aloe vera, Shea butter, Guar bean, Citric acid, & Essential oils.

Smells AMAZING. Like the forest, a sexy forest.

Carbon Neutral

Made in the USA

Carbon neutral

Palm-oil free (coconut and olive oil based!)

Biodegradable

Vegan & Cruelty Free

Concentrated formula

No new plastic: Bathing Culture uses use 100% California curb-side blue bin recycling to make our bottles. This bottle-to-bottle recycling program happens entirely within the state of California, meaning less carbon emissions, and more efficient use of the resources we already have.

The Bad:

We’ve got no complaints other than it being a tad on the expensive side! However, it is a very reasonable cost for a liquid soap.

We're on a mission to reduce our personal carbon footprint with small, hopefully easy, changes in our home to fight against climate change. This means we're looking for products that may be all natural, ideally zero waste, reusable or compostable -- while still being affordable!
