Elvissmart Bamboo Toilet Paper Review 2021 | Tree-Free, Sustainable Bamboo Toilet Paper

Elvissmart Bamboo Toilet Paper Review 2021 | Tree-Free, Sustainable Bamboo Toilet Paper

The Top Line: Elvissmart Bamboo Toilet Paper is a Mixed Buy for us. We like that its bamboo and unbleached. We like that it didn’t shred or tear apart at all - quite thick and tough. In fact we think we used less toilet paper because of it. However it comes in plastic packaging which is a big bummer. Price is relatively reasonable!

The Breakdown:

  • Cost & Products: $38.79 for 36 rolls

  • How ‘Clean’ Is This? Pretty clean since it’s tree-free. Made of 100% unbleached bamboo.

  • Packaging: We are very disappointed to see it come in plastic packaging.

  • Purchasing & Shipping: We purchased on Amazon.

  • What’s Your Impact? The paper is made from bamboo and packaging is all recyclable. Bamboo grows really quickly and requires less water and resources to grow, which makes it significantly more sustainable than tree-based toilet paper. However, this came in plastic packaging - which we were very disappointed with.

The Experience

Context: We have used Scott, Seventh Generation, Cottonelle, Charmin and just about every drugstore brand that exists. We have also tried our fair share of bamboo and recycled paper at this point.

  • No shredding - pretty tough, thick material. We actually found we used less because of how tough it is

  • It’s no Quilted Northern, but we were OK with the softness

  • Rolls are OK-sized .. they aren’t the biggest but you don’t feel gypped.

  • Came in plastic wrapping — extremely disappointing

The Cost

One source suggests that the average person uses 100 rolls of toilet paper per year, so we are going to use that for cost comparison. We’ll compare mostly online brands which we’ve reviewed the past (and recently done a big bamboo toilet paper roundup of the best!), including Go No. 2, Who Gives a Crap, PlantPaper, Better Way and Silk ‘n Soft. We compared it to one drugstore brand, Quilted Northern.

Money Report: Elvissmart Bamboo Toilet Paper is in the middle of the range when it comes to pricing.

The Good:

Made of super regenerative bamboo

Super strong, we found we actually used less toilet paper

Toilet paper is unbleached - hurrah!

The Bad:

It’s not going to be Cottonelle when it comes to softness - not even a little bit

It came in plastic packaging :(

We're on a mission to reduce our personal carbon footprint with small, hopefully easy, changes in our home to fight against climate change. This means we're looking for products that may be all natural, ideally zero waste, reusable or compostable -- while still being affordable!
