Microfiber Mop Pad Review 2020 | Washable, Reusable Mop Pads

The Top Line:

We would say the Microfiber Mop pads are a BUY. These guys stay on the swiffer (the velcro is very secure)! Saving money and not throwing disposable cloths in the garbage? Sign us up.

The Breakdown:

  • Cost & Products: $13.97 for a set of 2 on Amazon

  • How ‘Clean’ Is This? Made from microfiber, so it’s a synthetic fiber. Mop head claim is 50 washes in it.

  • Packaging: Amazon box - produce comes in thin plastic film (why?).

  • Purchasing & Shipping: Amazon..

  • Coupons: Amazon…

  • Extra Info: This mop can be used as a dry and wet mop!

  • What’s Your Impact? If you’re a Swiffer Dry or Wet Mop user, you take at least 98 pieces out of the landfill with each set of 2, not to mention the thick plastic refill packaging, which can be up to 4 or 5 tubs, depending on the size of the refill. Also, for us, we probably would have used 2-3 wet Swiffers per cleaning episode.

The Experience

Context: We don’t have the patience for a normal mop these days and don’t have enough spills to walk around with a bucket of water and standard mop. We have been using Swiffer or Swiffer like products for years. Only in the last few years did we start feeling guilty and try to figure out ways to use reduce our waste.

  • The straps of the mop pad are Velcro and honestly pretty tough

  • Straps are secure and about 1.5” wide on either side.

  • We typically clean about a 20” x 20” space

  • We have been using a spray cleaner to wet the floor

  • Mop picked up dust and dirt

The Cost

We are going to calculate based on using 2 wipes per cleaning session. Realistically, for us, we would likely use at least 3 given that we consistently used 2 or more in a smaller square footage of wood floor.

We compared Microfiber Mop Pads from Amazon to Swiffer Wet and Dry Mops as well as Clorox and Up & Up and Bona Reusable Microfiber pads.

Microfiber Mop Cost Comp.jpg

Money Report: Not the absolute cheapest option, Bona Reusable is even cheaper! But the Microfiber Mop pads are pretty darn cheap. If you already have a Swiffer, however, and don’t want to buy the Bona Mop, since it’s not compatible, the Microfiber option is a great deal.

The Good:

Amazon purchase makes it easy!

Can be used as a wet or dry mop pad

Can use with your favorite floor cleaner

Washable up to 50 times, saving 49 items from the landfill

Cheap alternative

Probably compatible with many mops that utilize reusable cloths

The Bad:

They’re not the absolute cheapest one! (but you’d have to get a new holder)

Our Recommendation:

We would say the Microfiber Mop pads are a BUY. These guys stay on the swiffer (the velcro is very secure)! Saving money and not throwing disposable cloths in the garbage? Sign us up.

We're on a mission to reduce our personal carbon footprint with small, hopefully easy, changes in our home to fight against climate change. This means we're looking for products that may be all natural, ideally zero waste, reusable or compostable -- while still being affordable!
