Nantucket Spider Natural Bug Repellent Review 2021 | Zero-waste, Sustainable, All-Natural Bug Spray

Nantucket Spider Natural Bug Repellent Review 2021 | Zero-waste, Sustainable, All-Natural Bug Spray

The Top Line: It’s a DEFINITE BUY. Nantucket Bug Repellent smells great and is chemical-free and DEET-free. We found ourselves spraying more on just because we loved the scent so much! And it works - we sat on the beach through sunset (when mosquitoes usually come out) and emerged unscathed (zero bites!).

The Breakdown:

  • Cost & Products: $14.99 for 8oz

  • How ‘Clean’ Is This? No chemicals and DEET-free, made from essential oils. However, the packaging has some plastic in it as it is a spray bottle.

  • Packaging: It comes in a plastic bottle, and unfortunately in a plastic pouch (to prevent leaks, so we understand) when it arrived.

  • Purchasing & Shipping: We purchased on Amazon.

  • What’s Your Impact? We will go through a couple bottles a year of bug spray as mosquitoes LOVE me. We like that this is made of natural ingredients / essential oils, with absolutely no chemicals in it.

The Experience

Context: We are mosquito-attracting — the first to get bit in any situation! we have tried so many bug repellents over the years, and run through a bottle of these pretty quickly.

  • The smell is heavenly, we might actively use this more because it smells so nice!

  • No concerns about chemicals or feeling as through we needed to wash it off as soon as we were indoors/away from mosquitoes

  • We sat in on the beach through sunset (when the mosquitos usually come out) with Nantucket Bug Repellent all over us, zero bites!

The Cost

We compared Nantucket Bug Repellent with a few other natural bug repellent brands (Marrick, Badger, Skeem Design and Shabby Chick) — along with good old-fashioned OFF! for good measure.

Money Report: Nantucket Bug Repellent is a very affordable option, especially for a natural DEET-free formula. Only OFF! was able to beat Nantucket on price.

The Good:

Smells incredible! We cover ourselves with bug spray, and this stuff actually smells nice!

It works! We sat in on the beach through sunset (when the mosquitos usually come out) with Nantucket Bug Repellent all over us, zero bites!

DEET-free and chemical free

Great price! Only a tad more expensive than OFF!

The Bad:

There is some plastic in the packaging (we’re not sure if that can be avoided)

Our Recommendation: It’s a DEFINITE BUY. Nantucket Bug Repellent smells great and is chemical-free and DEET-free. We found ourselves spraying more on just because we loved the scent so much! And it works - we sat on the beach through sunset (when mosquitoes usually come out) and emerged unscathed (zero bites!).

We're on a mission to reduce our personal carbon footprint with small, hopefully easy, changes in our home to fight against climate change. This means we're looking for products that may be all natural, ideally zero waste, reusable or compostable -- while still being affordable!
