Pharm & Table Scalp Relief Tea Tree Leave-in Review 2023 | Eco-friendly, sustainable leave-in scalp treatment

Pharm & Table Scalp Relief Tea Tree Leave-in Review 2023 | Eco-friendly, sustainable leave-in scalp treatment

The Top Line: It’s a BUY. We purchased Pharm & Table Scalp Relief primarily to help with an itchy/irritated scalp and dandruff, and it delivered! We love that our scalp really felt GREAT, the product did not make our hair overly greasy (despite there being Tea Tree Oil and Coconut Oil in the formula). It actually gave our hair a little bit of volume when applied right after the shower while hair is still wet! And after over a year of using this product, we think it’s helped with the general health of our hair and scalp.

The Breakdown:

  • Cost & Products: $12.00 for a 240ml/8fl oz bottle that has lasted us for over a year, using this product 2-3x a week

  • How ‘Clean’ Is This? We like the generally natural, paraben-free ingredients, and no animal testing. However, there are a couple ingredients that require a closer look — Phenoxyethanol (received a 2-4 from EWG), Ethylhexylglycerin (received a 2 from EWG).

  • Packaging: It does come in a plastic spray bottle, but we’re not sure there is a better option for a product like this. Also given that 1 bottle lasts over a year for us, we felt OK with it — we would love to see this product be refillable as the spray bottle works fine after a year.

  • Purchasing & Shipping: Quick checkout and shipping on Amazon

  • Good to know: Good option to try versus more commonly used dandruff shampoos and products that have a lot more questionable ingredients (that you wash away!), we like that this is leave-in.

The Experience

Context: I have an sensitive scalp (irritable, dandruff, etc.) and typically wash my hair 1-2x a week. I’ve tried Head & Shoulders, and various dandruff shampoos over the years, and decided to try something that I can spray directly onto my scalp (rather than a shampoo that you largely just wash away).

  • I found Pharm & Table Scalp Relief to be incredibly soothing to my scalp.

  • Does not weigh down my hair or make it greasy (which was my biggest concern), if anything it actually gave it a little volume!

  • There is a definite reduction of dandruff and irritation immediately after using.

  • After over a year of using this product, we think it’s helped with the general health of our hair and scalp.

  • Scent is very light — smells of the tea tree oil and mint

Overall, very happy with the experience!

The Cost

We compared Pharm & Table Scalp Relief with with other scalp treatments, including OGX Teatree Mint Dry Scalp Treatment, DIVI Scalp Serum and Mielle Organics Rosemary Mint Scalp Oil. We found the cost to be very reasonable compared to other options.

The Good:

Hair and scalp felt AMAZING after, cooling and refreshing feeling

No animal testing

Made with natural ingredients including tea tree oil, coconut oil, mint, and biotin

Lightweight formula (many that we have tried are too greasy)

✔ Free of harsh chemicals, parabens

The Bad:

Wish there was a refill option so we can reuse the spray bottle

A couple ingredients that require a closer look (but nothing overly concerning)— Phenoxyethanol (received a 2-4 from EWG), Ethylhexylglycerin (received a 2 from EWG).

Our Recommendation:

We're on a mission to reduce our personal carbon footprint with small, hopefully easy, changes in our home to fight against climate change. This means we're looking for products that may be all natural, ideally zero waste, reusable or compostable -- while still being affordable!
