The Top Line:

If unbleached is an important feature (it makes it more green), then Package Free Bamboo toilet paper is a BUY. The one drawback of this toilet paper is that it’s middle of the range when it comes to price. For a comparison of all of our sustainable toilet papers, check out our Big Bamboo Toilet Paper Roundup.

The Breakdown:

  • Cost & Products: $13.20 for 12 rolls or $26.40 for 24 rolls (h/t to one of our readers who helped correct a typo here!)

  • How ‘Clean’ Is This? Clean - the toilet paper is made of bamboo, which grows much faster than trees, making it significntly more sustainable. Also, this toilet paper is bleach-free.

  • Packaging: The toilet paper comes in a giant cardboard box.

  • Purchasing & Shipping: Directly from the Package Free shop. $35 for free shipping.

  • What’s Your Impact? Bamboo grows extremely quickly compared to trees and uses much less water while also emiting more oxygen than trees. Overall, this means less deforestation to keep your undersides clean!

The Experience

Context: We have used Scott, Seventh Generation, Cottonelle, Charmin and just about every drugstore brand that exists. We have also tried our fair share of bamboo and recycled paper at this point.

  • No shredding. nice materials

  • Paper is light brown given that it’s not bleached

  • Rolls are a deeent size

  • Individual rolls come wrapped in recyclable paper

The Cost

One source suggests that the average person uses 100 rolls of toilet paper per year, so we are going to use that for cost comparison. We’ll compare mostly online brands which we’ve reviewed the past (and recently done a big bamboo toilet paper roundup of the best!), including Bippy, Go No. 2, Who Gives a Crap, PlantPaper, Better Way and Silk ‘n Soft. We compared it to one drugstore brand, Quilted Northern.

Money Report: Package Free Shop Bamboo Toilet Paper is middle of the road when it comes to price. But note, this is only one of two that is unbleached.

The Good:

Strong and relatively soft paper

Unbleached

Made of bamboo, making it a tree-free toilet paper option

The Bad:

Not the cheapest option

Our Recommendation: If unbleached is an important feature (it makes it even more green and sustainable), then Package Free Bamboo toilet paper is a BUY. The one drawback of this toilet paper is that it’s middle of the range when it comes to price.
